The challenge

The company ran its ERP platform, CAD and CAM tools, SQL databases, file shares, quality control applications, and domain controllers on 15 aging on-premises servers. The hardware grew expensive to maintain, and outages and slowdowns disrupted production. The IT team also faced:

  • Limited redundancy and disaster recovery
  • Rising hardware replacement costs
  • A growing need for secure remote access for engineers, sales reps, and managers working offsite

What TSR did

  1. Assessment and planning. TSR mapped server dependencies, application needs, and security requirements.
  2. Cloud design. TSR built a dedicated virtual environment in its private cloud, designed for performance and redundancy, with secure high-speed connectivity between every facility and the TSR data center.
  3. Phased cutover. Non-critical workloads moved first. Mission-critical servers moved during off-hours to minimize downtime.
  4. Testing and training. Every application was tested before go-live, and staff were trained on remote access and file collaboration.

The new setup is hosted in an environment covered by TSR's SOC 2 Type 2 examination. It includes centralized backup, geo-redundant replication, remote desktop services, firewall protection, intrusion detection, 24/7/365 monitoring, and encryption in transit and at rest.
