This position will primarily serve as the first line between customer service requests and senior engineers. This position will also help manage our Data Center which includes (but is not limited to): daily maintenance and monitoring of data center services, upgrading and replacement of infrastructure, building out new cloud solutions for clients, and maintaining network (switches, VLANs, Firewalls, Document processes, etc.). Almost all work will be performed on-site from our Data Center in downtown Milwaukee, with few on-site visits with customers.

Role & Responsibilities

Work with clients to diagnose IT issues and attempt Level 1 resolution

Gather required information from clients and escalate to senior engineer if needed

Act as liaison with clients for open issues/tickets

Manage service board daily to make sure tickets are being updated

Work with senior engineers to schedule service work

Report/escalate service issues to Operations Director

Monitor critical infrastructure and hardware at the Data Center

Perform daily Data Center maintenance and check backup status

Set up virtual servers when requested

Minimum Qualifications

At least 3 years working in IT

Excellent verbal client communication and follow-up skills

Personality to work well with a great diversity of personalities

Ability to quickly diagnose problems and issues

Willingness to try and tackle issues beyond current skill set

Ability to understand and gather required information for problem escalation

Strong written/documentation skills

Multi-tasking and organizational skills

Past experience interacting with clients

Experience with Windows Workstation, Server 2008-2012

Understanding of networking and associated infrastructure

Understanding of virtualization, email, and hardware

Additional Preferred Skills

Understanding of Virtualization (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere client)

Experience configuring Switches and VLANs

Understanding of Firewall operation and configuration (Fortigate)

Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange 2010-2013

Familiarity with Infrastructure Monitoring software

Familiarity with Connectwise or other service ticketing software

Familiarity with documentation processes and procedures
